Conservation

Enriching our learners with knowledge of the environment is a very important part of what we have to offer at Back2Basics

One of the 6 principles of Forest school provision is the need to highlight and promote environmental awareness and to encourage sustainability when out and about in the natural world. the first thing we teach, and which we believe to be of the upmost importance is the need to respect the environment in which we live.

We use simple techniques through discussion in a variety of ways to promote respect, such as simple task like turning of light switches when at home, recycling and walking to school whenever possible.

Conservation plays a major part in our woodlands. The importance of replacing old trees with new is vital to our future, however discussing the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ is where the knowledge becomes really embedded.

Back2Basics have developed concise Woodland Management Plans to maintain and protect Moorgrove Forest and additional information can be provided on request.

About Us

Based in the grounds of the Lawrence Weston Community Farm we offer an outstanding location for a forest school in which we can support learners. Our approach also promotes environmental awareness, sustainability and conservation. Our forest school aims to help children and young people get up and outside in the fresh air which in turn supports emotional well-being and positive mental health.
